How do I transcribe a voice message?
In WhatsApp or Signal, long-press a voice message → Share → choose FVocals. A notification appears within a second; tap it to open the app and start the transcription.
Is an internet connection required?
Only on first launch, to download the Whisper model (~300 MB). Once installed, every transcription runs locally, without internet.
Which model should I choose?
Small is the recommended trade-off. Large v3 Turbo offers the best quality on recent iPhones. Distil Large v3 is optimized specifically for English.
How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?
Open FVocals → Settings → Restore purchase. Premium is tied to your Apple Account; no manual reinstall is needed.
Can FVocals transcribe videos?
Yes, as long as the video has an audio track. Share it from the source app and FVocals automatically extracts the audio.
Privacy Policy

FVocals is built on the Privacy by Design principle: none of your data ever leaves your iPhone. This policy spells out concretely what that means.
1. Data collected
FVocals collects no personal data. No account, no registration, no identifier is created or transmitted. The app contains no third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Sentry, or any other).
2. Voice data processing

Voice messages shared to FVocals are copied temporarily to a private folder of the app, on your iPhone only.

Transcription is performed 100% locally by WhisperKit, via your iPhone's Neural Engine. No audio is sent to any server — not ours, not Apple's, not a third party's.

Transcription history is stored locally, accessible only by you, inside the app's sandbox. Uninstalling FVocals permanently deletes this history.
3. Network connections
FVocals makes a single network connection, and only on your explicit request:

Downloading Whisper models from huggingface.co/argmaxinc/whisperkit-coreml when you first select a model. The connection is HTTPS and transmits only the standard download request. No data about you is attached.
4. In-app purchase
FVocals Premium (€9.99, one-time) is handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit 2. We never see your payment details. Apple may prompt you for Face ID / Touch ID authentication per its own terms, available on Apple's website.
5. iOS permissions

Microphone: used only if you choose to record a voice message directly inside FVocals. You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.

Notifications: used only to notify you when a shared voice message is ready to transcribe. No marketing notifications.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
Since FVocals collects no data, there is nothing to delete or export on the server side. If you wish to exercise a right guaranteed by the GDPR (erasure, portability, objection...), write to paul@21million.ad — we will confirm within 30 days that no data about you is stored.
7. Children
FVocals is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data about them.
8. Policy changes
Any substantive change to this policy will be announced via the App Store release note. The 'Last updated' date at the top of this page reflects the version in force.
